Bodh’aktan Conquest

Rock-trad band Bodh’aktan returns from April, 19th armed with its third album and its legendary high gear energy.

The eponymous Bodh’aktan’s new release captures the mood of the last 300 concerts of these conquerors. The unique septet sings about hazy memories of the European tours (Grazie mille, Ici, Zimmerman), characters that cannot be invented (André) and its crush on Lafayette (Et samedi soir au fais dodo).

This album, which turns out to be a family affair, was mixed by Raphaël Maienfant from Broil studio and mastered by Marc Thériault (Le Lab Mastering).

Fans will undoubtedly renew with the famous band’s spirit and federating chorus, besides surprising folk flavoured new songs.

Bagpipes, accordion, fiddle, flutes, bouzouki… According Journal du Quebec, « There is nothing else in Quebec which sounds like Bodh’aktan’s music ». Otherwise, each member of the band has his own singular background.

So what unites them ? A unique composure on stage. Since 2011, crowds have been got up and moving, with many pints raised. They have gone back and forth Canada, USA and Europe, opened Fiddler’s Green’s shows (speed folk flagship band), played in Montebello Rockfest, Francofolies of Montréal, Summer Festival of Quebec.

Wishing to take off

First extract Besoin d’air is just in time to fill Quebecois’ wish to escape never-ending February. This summary song evokes a son of the sea’s quest trapped under the city heat.

The relentless band of pirates will be heading again to Europe in the next few months : a couple of dates in Italy sponsored by Guinness, before going back to Zeltik in Luxemburg and playing at the Irish Guinness Festival in Switzerland. They are particularly excited to take part in the Wacken Open Air Festival (W.O.A) on forthcoming August and looking forward to make about 100 000 visitors stand up!

Le Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Moncton, Edmundson are already on the agenda in Quebec. Let’s face it and get shots ready: soon or late, Bodh’aktan will anchor nearby to plunder everyday worries and floor boredom.
